Silver State, Zone 5, and Sectionals in the Books
Falfins had an amazing wrap-up to our short course season. The Silver State meet was packed with best times, top 10 finishes, and event wins. Congratulations to all our swimmers who showed how much progress they’ve made through the season. Tobin Murphy won the 13-14 Boys 50 Free, and Emmie Smith won the 10 & Under girls IM. We love to see growth in our swimmers, and it’s even more rewarding when growth culminates in a win!
While all of our swimmers put in great performances at Zone 5, the meet was especially exciting for our younger and less experienced swimmers. Many won their first medals and put in best times. The Air Force Academy Natatorium gave the swimmers a taste of swimming in a bigger venue than the previous meets of the season, and they were not intimidated! Some participated in their first relay races and were really able to experience the power of having a team behind you and your teammates cheering you on to the finish line. Congratulations to individual first place winners Emersyn Ash, Brach Gatheridge, Elena Lin, Alex Manovych, Hannah McCullough, Lio Ortega, Sofie Peak, Reid Rector, Sammie Rector, Luca Root, Vera Ruxton, and Meredith Scott.
And lastly, we closed out the short course season with the Speedo Sectional Championship in Boise, ID. Our six Falfin girls had an outstanding meet, bringing positivity, focus, and determination each day. They approached their prelims/finals warm-ups, and post-race cooldowns with discipline, and their attention to hydration and recovery was excellent—key factors in maintaining high-level performance.
Congratulations to Sydney Dungca, Evie Gray, Abigail Perry, Grace Perry, Elizabeth Sagunsky, and Lily Wederquist! With 18 point-scoring swims between them, our girls placed 6th overall out of 42 teams—an amazing accomplishment!
